Asbestos Surveys/ACP5

Asbestos Surveys

Asbestos material sampling on building facade

The Asbestos Survey requires sampling all asbestos suspect materials (flooring, plaster, caulks, insulation, glues, compounds, etc.) that would be disturbed during construction projects/demolitions. According to the code, multiple samples must be taken from some materials. There are two types of samples: PLM (gypsum boards, plaster, grout, thermal insulation, etc) and NOB (vinyl floor tiles, mastic, glue, caulking, roofing, etc).

The survey must be done by an NYS DOL/NYC DEP certified Asbestos Inspector/Investigator.

If only a minor quantity (<25 LF or 10 SF) or no asbestos material is found, an ACP5 is issued, which can be used to obtain a construction permit from the NYC DOB. If asbestos material is found, an Asbestos Survey is issued. In such a case, an abatement has to be done before a construction permit can be obtained.

The price for an Asbestos Survey depends on the number of collected samples. Five Star Environmental takes only the minimum number of samples required. Thus, the price is kept at the lowest possible level.

We issue an itemized invoice for each project showing the price breakdown with the number and type of samples collected.
